The design comprises two reinforced concrete structures, an inlet structure with two manual sluice gates and an outlet structure that splits the flows between the channels, connected by two parallel pipelines of about 100 metres each that act as an inverted siphon. Upstream, the connection to the Roggia Breganze is made via an earth channel; downstream, the flow is divided between the Roggia Brugnola to the west and the Roggia Seriola to the east.
After excavation to design level, the pipelines were laid, welded internally with a manual extruder and covered with sand, lean concrete and double-layer mesh.
The results
The site team appreciated the ease of installation and handling and the greater accuracy in aligning the pipeline. Assembly was completed in a very short time. The internal welding achieved hydraulic tightness above 2 bar, more than 4 times the value required by the standard.
Hydraulic performance also improves, thanks to very low roughness coefficients and the absence of sockets, which limits solid deposits.
