PALADEX pipes

Corrosion protection

The steel in the PALADEX pipe is galvanised and fully encased in polyethylene: it never comes into contact with the conveyed fluids or with the soil.

Protection of the steel

Polymer materials do not conduct electricity and are not affected by electrochemical or galvanic corrosion. Steel is, if it comes into contact with the fluids inside or outside the pipe. For this reason the DX51D+Z galvanised steel core (UNI EN 10346) is fully coated with a polyethylene-based primer, which makes it homogeneous with, and weldable to, the polyethylene inner and outer walls.

Every batch of steel undergoes a peeling test measuring primer adhesion. Perfect adhesion between steel and polyethylene prevents contact with water and the transport of ionic species, and thus the onset of corrosion processes.
